My Mia
It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I write this post. After a lot of deliberation, I've decided that it's time that I part ways with my cat Mia. She's had issues with her bladder ever since we got her and this morning I've finally reached my breaking point. My parents got her for me from Open Door Animal Sanctuary and they have a policy that states that if if something doesn't work out wtih the pet you adopt, you can't just give her away or put her down, you have to bring her back to ODAS. So I have an appointment to bring her in tomorrow.
As I'm writing this she's sitting on my stomach and purring as if she knows that something is wrong - she is trying to fix it the only way she knows how. By loving me.
I've never had to make a decision this difficult.
I've had my heart broken before - but this almost seems worse. There's no way I can communicate to her that I don't want to give her up. There's no way I can tell her how much I will always love her and how much she has meant to me for the past 3 years.
To my friends who are reading this, you all know what a big part of my life this little girl has been. I'm gonna need some extra support these next few weeks.
Mia, thanks for always being better than a space heater. Thanks for providing me with more smiles and laughs than I can count or can stomach to remember right now. Thanks for kissing my nose when I brought my face down near yours. Thanks for making adorable noises in the morning when you're hungry. And for a million other things I am leaving out right now... thank you. I will love you every day, forever.

A Passage...
This is the best piece of writing I've come across in quite some time. I haven't been reading as much as I usually do (I blame American Idol, Glee and How I Met Your Mother), but when I came across this passage my heart stopped. It's so beautiful and so hauntingly honest that it made me want to purchase the book as soon as humanly possible. I apologize in advance - there is a bit of strong language in parts.
I took a Young Adult literature class my last year of college assuming it would be the easiest lit class offered. Well... the professor knew that's why people would be taking the course and did her best to thwart the (non)efforts of the slackers enrolled. She assigned one YA book a week for everyone to read, and then she would pick one person at random to give a 10 minute overview during the class. If you didn't read the book that week, you were basically screwed, and she was sure to pick on you again the next week. On top of this we had to read another YA book of our choosing, and give a 20 minute presentation on it at the end of the course. Yowza... reading and public humiliation galore. Luckily, however, these books were pretty easy reads and cute stories. I think since I'm so stunted maturity-wise, I'm able to relate to young adults more than adults my own age. I really found myself through a couple of those books... it was fascinating.
Anyone who has yearned for the attention of the person they have feelings for can relate to this passage. John Green's words make this feeling so palpable, so sincere, and so heartbreaking. I can't wait to read the rest!
Has anyone read this yet?
Do you have a passage from a book that leaves you stunned?

Pray for Japan
My heart goes out to the people of Japan who have had to endure this terrible force of nature. Losing their homes, their possessions, their loved ones, perhaps even ther lives... I can't imagine how gut wrenching something like this would be. Please keep them in your prayers, and donate if you can.
God bless.

Arts & Crafts Time!
A few of the arts and crafts projects I want to start on in the next few weeks... I might have to learn how to crochet for a few of them, but how hard can that be, right?
*Bonus! Added incentive to drink more wine!*
How cute would these be in a guest bathroom or in a walk-in closet? An adorable room accessory for all ages!
I love this --- I hope I can figure out this whole crochet thing soon! I think this would be an amazing gift idea for the laptop lovers in your life!
I'm going to try to make some of these and put them in my coat closet! They'd also be great for any girls you know heading off to college or moving out on their own.
I'm so excited to get started on some of these projects... you guys have to make sure I actually do them!
My Latest Obsession...
The late great Ms. Gilda Radner...
The obsession started when I saw this quote:
It's comforting to know that it really is okay that I don't have everything figured out yet. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one who doesn't have a plan, but sometimes not having things perfectly planned out makes life a little more interesting.
Thanks for the help, Gilda. I hope you're still making people laugh, wherever you are.

Can I Just Tell You...
...what a huge crush I have on Paul from American Idol this season??
I mean could he be any cuter? And the fact that he sang a Ryan Adams song the other night had me fanning myself like a 13 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert (or now that I think about it, a 40 year old man at a Justin Bieber concert. Whatever floats your boat.).
He reminds me a little bit of a less douche-y Bradley Cooper don't you think?

Safe to say I know who I will be voting for this season! Unless he screws up and sings something really stupid like Nickelback or something... in which case I'll vote for Kasey becasue he reminds me of this guy from Monsters Inc.

If you've never been to their site, be careful... it's addicting.
Mon, if you're reading this... I can't wait for tonight!
