A Passage...

This is the best piece of writing I've come across in quite some time. I haven't been reading as much as I usually do (I blame American Idol, Glee and How I Met Your Mother), but when I came across this passage my heart stopped. It's so beautiful and so hauntingly honest that it made me want to purchase the book as soon as humanly possible. I apologize in advance - there is a bit of strong language in parts.

I took a Young Adult literature class my last year of college assuming it would be the easiest lit class offered. Well... the professor knew that's why people would be taking the course and did her best to thwart the (non)efforts of the slackers enrolled. She assigned one YA book a week for everyone to read, and then she would pick one person at random to give a 10 minute overview during the class. If you didn't read the book that week, you were basically screwed, and she was sure to pick on you again the next week. On top of this we had to read another YA book of our choosing, and give a 20 minute presentation on it at the end of the course. Yowza... reading and public humiliation galore. Luckily, however, these books were pretty easy reads and cute stories. I think since I'm so stunted maturity-wise, I'm able to relate to young adults more than adults my own age. I really found myself through a couple of those books... it was fascinating.

Anyone who has yearned for the attention of the person they have feelings for can relate to this passage. John Green's words make this feeling so palpable, so sincere, and so heartbreaking. I can't wait to read the rest!

Has anyone read this yet?
Do you have a passage from a book that leaves you stunned?
